In June 2006, the CAPP formally introduced a mandatory 5-day orientation program for new CAPP physicians before they begin their mentored practice.

The program, which is primarily funded by Health Canada, is intended to address a number of important aspects of medical practice in Nova Scotia.

The program will be held in the last week of September. Immediately afterward, new CAPP physicians will undertake site visits to communities in need of new family practitioners that have been identified by the Department of Health and the District Health Authorities.
